Hello! Thanks for providing such an important service by tutoring adults to improve their literacy. I appreciate that you spent the day with me learning about my program, Reading Success. If we use these research-based instructional procedures we can achieve some impressive literacy gains in the adults you are tutoring.

On pages 24-26 in the Reading Success booklet, we discussed the five basic comprehension skills: predicting, self-questioning, summarizing, reflecting and self-monitoring. Are you teaching these five basic skills? If so, are there any that you have questions about? Which ones do you find are easier for your adults to master? Have you reached a place with one of your adults where that person can now use all five of these basic comprehension skills?

How important do you think teaching reading comprehension is when teaching adults?
