Volunteer with Adult Learners

Many organizations welcome volunteers as class assistants or tutors for ESL, Adult Basic Education (Literacy, Numeracy), High School Equivalency/GED preparation, Citizenship exam preparation, or in other areas.

Please use our “Class Provider Map” to find organizations that accept volunteers.

NOTE: Each provider organization will have its own requirements for volunteers.

In general, a volunteer must:

  • Be age 18 or older
  • Be reliable, responsible, patient, and open-minded
  • Be willing to make a time commitment
  • Attend orientation and training sessions
  • Pass a background check

Volunteer with the Literacy Coalition of Colorado

The Literacy Coalition of Colorado is in need of volunteer Board Members. We are looking for volunteers with experience any of the following:

  • adult foundational education,
  • social media,
  • communications,
  • finance,
  • website management,
  • or non-profit development.

We also seek volunteers for more limited roles! Volunteers in these roles might help with:

  • event support,
  • content creation for our newsletter or online platforms (with Canva),
  • or helping to manage our social media platforms.
